Best Rides At Animal Kingdom For Toddlers
Disneys Animal Kingdom Theme Park was my #2 park for toddlers, mostly based on the presence of animals and The Boneyard in DinoLand, U.S.A. However, The Boneyard is another casualty of Covid. The Boneyard is an open air play space where kids can run around in a playground setting designed to look like a fossil dig site. There are ropes, bridges, tiny slides, and more. Theres a dig site in the back where they can dig, dig, dig, dig, dig digthe whole day through.
Its a great place for toddlers to burn off some energy. All of my girls have loved exploring here, and its always the first thing they want to do. Slow your roll, kids, we have attractions to ride first.
Speaking of attractions, I recommend Kilimanjaro Safaris and Triceratop Spin . Watch out for Its Tough to Be a Bug. Its a 3-D movie, and I find it hilarious. Little children often do not. There are some creepy crawlies, and a giant animatronic bug that pops out.
Now that Pandora The World of Avatar is open in Animal Kingdom, it makes it even better for toddlers. The Navi River Journey is a slow-paced boat ride with beautiful scenery and music. Check out my best Disney Pandora tips here. Animal Kingdom is definitely a great addition for Disney World with toddlers.

Best Theme Parks In Orlando For Elementary
Best: SeaWorld Orlando
Who says learning isn’t fun? Out of all the Orlando theme parks, SeaWorld Orlando is one of the most educational. Kids of all ages, but especially young children, can test their knowledge of aquatic life. They can also explore the exhibits and get up close and personal with baby dolphins, sea lions and stingrays. The younger end of this group will also love Sesame Street Land and its interactive elements! Be sure to also check out Antarctica: Empire of the Penguin. Kids should not miss the penguin habitat, which mimics the icy conditions of the South Pole. Get up close with the penguins in temps of 30 degrees. You can see four species on land and underwater.
Other Good Orlando Theme Parks for Elementary-Age Kids:
- LEGOLAND Florida The whole park is geared toward 2 to 12-year-olds. For LEGO fanatics, the themed lands are second to none! Adventurous kids can experience the thrill of the Flying School roller coaster. Those who aren’t quite ready have gentler ride options such as The Dragon. The water park within the park will keep everyone cool on the hottest summer days. It became even more “awesome” with the addition of LEGO MOVIE World in 2019.
- Magic Kingdom This is the place where fairytales come true, and princesses and pirates will love the opportunities to indulge in a little make-believe and maybe work up the nerve to try out Space Mountain or Splash Mountain. Great starter coaster options are Big Thunder Mountain Railroad or The Barnstormer.

The Art Of Animation Resort
Our boys love this pool and its perfect for all ages. On one end of the pool theres a beach entry perfect for the littles. What we enjoy most about this resort are the room options. The Little Mermaid rooms are the standard room that sleeps up to 4 while the family style rooms have space to sleep 6 with a mini kitchen and 2 full bathrooms. If we are planning a quick trip we opt for the Mermaid rooms and if its a family gathering we take advantage of the family suites. Regardless of the room level you select, youre surrounded by themes to explore.
Take a stroll and view The Little Mermaid pool area, The Cars area, The Lion King Area, and the Nemo area which is where the main pool sits. Each section has amazing photo opportunities with full-size Cars in the Cars area, characters from The Lion King, and a massive size Ursala in the Mermaid area just to name a few. From the food to the room decor to fun kid friendly large pool this is a resort the kids wont want to leave.
Turtle Talk With Crush
Courtesy of Disney
Like The Seas with Nemo & Friends ride, which is in the same pavilion, Turtle Talk with Crush is one of those Disney attractions that use industrial strength Imagineering magic to confound adults, but seamlessly enchant children. The surfer dude from Finding Nemo interacts and chats with audience members via real-time, on-the-fly animation. This is perhaps the most underrated attraction in all of Disney World as well as one of the best for young kids. In 2016, Disney updated the attraction to include characters from Finding Dory.
- Thrill Scale : 0The delightful show has no scary moments.
- Height Requirement: None
- Location: Future World in Epcot

Pecos Bill Tall Tale Inn in Frontierland is our top pick for eating at Disney World on a budget as they have a huge free toppings bar where you can liven up your meal with salsas, cheese, jalapeños, pickles, and lettuce.
The veggie nachos and veggie rice bowl with beans and vegetables are pretty tasty once youve added the toppings. Save time by ordering on the Disney app.
Columbia Harbour House in Liberty Square is another good option. We enjoyed the hummus and broccoli slaw sandwich and vegetarian chilli.
Best Theme Parks In Orlando For Adults
The most non-traditional park out of all the Orlando theme parks, EPCOT offers the chance to experience many of the world’s cultures through sight, sound and taste. Shopaholics will love strolling through the World Showcase shops. EPCOT is the only place in the U.S. where some of these items can be found! There are plenty of diverse food and beverage options to be explored, as well.
Other Good Theme Parks for Adults:
- Universal’s Islands of Adventure This park is a thrill-seeker’s paradise, with two fantastic coasters and tremendous theming on 3-D rides Skull Island: Reign of Kong and The Amazing Adventures of Spider-Man. Get ready to scream and splash on Jurassic Park River Adventure and Dudley Do-Right’s Ripsaw Falls.
- Universal Studios Florida This park offers a behind-the-scenes glimpse into Hollywood movie-making, a truly intimidating coaster in Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit and 3-D fun for kids at heart in The Simpsons Ride and Despicable Me: Minion Mayhem. Best Womens Sandals For Disney
Keens Whisper Sandal
Our pick for the best womens sandals for Disney World!
We love our Keens! For us, we consider this our best womens sandal for Disney World. Well, we like the added protection of sneakers in the theme parks and their ability for high mileage, sometimes its just to darn hot for sneakers. Tough sandals like this have a tough closed toes design, making them probably the best shoes for Disney World in the summer when humidity and temperatures are high.
With their excellent arch support, these machine-washable sandals are great for transitioning from Disneys Animal Kingdom to the water parks. You will also find, by the end of the day, that you will have a unique suntan pattern on your feet.
Tips For Walt Disney World With Toddlers: Try A Character Breakfast First Like The Topolinos Terrace Character Breakfast
Crystal Palace with Winnie the Pooh and friends is inside Magic Kingdom Park. The character interaction is longer, and its another way to test the waters. Magic Kingdom Park really is a 2-day park, and its my favorite, but Im a kid at heart.
You can also wave to all your favorite characters during Disneys Festival of Fantasy Parade. The costumes, music, dancing, and characters are mesmerizing even for little ones. The picture of my daughter below is one of my all-time favorites when shes watching the parade.

Rock N Roller Coaster
Hollywood StudiosRock n Roller Coaster might just be Disney Worlds most thrilling roller coaster. Its the resorts only launched coaster and the fastest with a top speed of 57 miles per hour. If everyone in your group is on board with hitting up the single rider line, you can get on and off the ride so fast you might be tempted to get back in line and ride again.
Under The Sea ~ Journey Of The Little Mermaid
Also in the Magic Kingdom, this underwater adventure with Ariel and her seafaring friends is an undeniably catchy musical retelling of the 1989 animated film. Youll relive all of the popular songs from the film, including a show-stopping rendition of Under the Sea in a room filled with almost 200 singing, dancing animatronics.
A larger-than-life Ursula the sea witch does make an appearance but the water on this ride is strictly Disney magic, so you wont have to worry about actually getting wet.

Final Verdict Is Hollywood Studios Worth It
Hollywood Studios is a big no-no if this is your first Disney trip as an adult, you are ride-enthusiast, or a gourmet excited to sample Disney foods.
However, if the idea is to spend a laid-back trip in Florida with kids in a Disney park that balances adult-kid attractions, then DHS may just be the park for you.
Its shows and nighttime attractions are perfect for the holidaymakers who have just 1 day to enjoy a bit of Disney.
Avoid Magic Kingdom On Mondays
I seriously have no clue why this is, but Magic Kingdom tends to be more crowded on Mondays. Probably because most people fly in on Sunday and leave on Saturday.
And of course, the first park they want to go to is Magic Kingdom. If this scenario sounds familiar to you, then I say just go for it. I truly do think its best to start your first visit to Disney World at Magic Kingdom.
Just be prepared that the park will be a touch extra busy that day.

Rides In Magic Kingdom With Toddlers
Many of the rides in Magic Kingdom do not have height restrictions, so toddlers can join their parents in the fun. The attractions and characters available for the little ones inside Magic Kingdom far outweigh the other parks. Id recommend visiting this park at least twice during your vacation. Fantasyland was designed for the little ones, and theres so much for them to experience. I highly recommend starting your day here!
Must-do rides that toddlers will love in Fantasyland:
- Dumbo the Flying Elephant
- Peter Pans Flight
- The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh.
- Brave toddlers may enjoy The Barnstormer or Seven Dwarfs Mine Train.
Elsewhere in the park try, , Tomorrowland Speedway, and the Magic Carpets of Aladdin. Toddlers are big rail fans so dont miss taking the round trip tour on the Walt Disney World Railway. Some rides do not have height restrictions but use discretion before boarding. If your toddler is skittish of the dark, you may want to skip some of the scarier rides like Pirates of the Caribbean or Haunted Mansion.
My son was a very tall toddler and met the height requirement for the Mountains at just two years old! If your toddler really loves thrill rides and meets the height requirement, then go for it! For full details read these suggestions on the best toddler rides in Magic Kingdom.
An Adults Take On Magic Kingdom Rides
The park is magical with more than double the rides in Hollywood Studios. But it still doesnt flaunt the most thrilling roller coasters in the Disney universe.
Also, because of the immersive animation-like experience with characters, cast, and the iconic Cinderella Castle it is often written off as being for kids.
Still, there are a few coasters that are worth riding in the park. You will find Space Mountain, Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, and Seven Dwarfs Mine Trains to be quite hair-raising even for a grownup. Skip the short Barnstormer coaster.
There are also the classic Disney rides must-see attractions in Magic Kingdom for all guests. These rides include:
- its a small world
- Tomorrowland Transit Authority PeopleMover
- Walt Disney World Railroad
Note that the TRON roller coaster, coming 2021, might influence the rank of Magic Kingdom in this list by adding a solid Disney ride for adults to the park.

Disneys Port Orleans French Quarter
On our very first family vacation with our toddler and infant, we stayed at Disneys Port Orleans French Quarter. We chose that Disney hotel for several reasons. As a moderate resort, it was in our budget, and as a smaller resort, it was very manageable with young kids. It didnt have a particularly kid-friendly theme, but our kids were so little that they didnt really notice.
Disneys Port Orleans actually has two separate sections French Quarter and Riverside. Guests of one section have access to all of the amenities at the other resort. Riverside is the larger of the two resorts and has more amenities.
We really loved Port Orleans French Quarter with little kids because its a smaller and quieter resort. It was just a short walk to the buses and food court, making it very convenient for us.
Between the two sections, youll find two food courts, bike rentals, fishing, two playgrounds, two arcades, gift shops, and several pools. Theres also the River Roost lounge and Boatwrights Dining Hall.
Room types include royal rooms , standard view rooms, river view rooms, and preferred rooms. These hotel rooms include queen beds, a bathroom, and a refrigerator.
Disneys Port Orleans resort is located in the Disney Springs area of Walt Disney World. Boat transportation is offered to Disney Springs, and buses are available to the four theme parks and the two water parks.
Best 25 Experiences At Walt Disney World For 7
If you are planning a vacation with your child, you probably want to make sure you see and experience all of the things they would enjoy. Here are what I consider to be the best 25 experiences at Walt Disney World for 7-9 year olds:
1. Mad Tea Party Spin around in a giant tea cup and see if you can make your other family members woozy.
2. Peter Pans Flight This classic attraction flies you over London and on to Neverland in a pixie dusted pirate ship. Especially great for pirate and fairy lovers.
3. Seven Dwarfs Mine Train If you have a thrill seeker, they will love this enchanting ride through the jewel mines where the dwarfs work.
4. Dumbo the Flying Elephant This attraction is synonymous with a Walt Disney World vacation. No matter the age, this is one that everyone should experience.
5. The Barnstormer Although this ride lasts about 30 seconds, it is exhilarating and exciting.
6. Big Thunder Mountain It is the wildest wide in the wilderness! Ride it at night for a completely different experience.
7. Splash Mountain You might just get wet on this one! Kids will love the thrill of seeing their parents soaked.
8. Haunted Mansion It is right about this age where the Haunted Mansion no longer seems as scary to little kids. It is when mine started loving it!
9. Buzz Lightyear Space Ranger Spin See how many points you can score on this galactic experience.
And really a lot more in the Magic Kingdom but those are my top 9 picks!
