5 Days At Disney World

How Much Does It Cost To Go To Disney World In 2022

Disney Wonder Cruise 2022 Day 5 | A Truly Magical Vacation

In this post we answer a common question: How much does it cost to go to Disney World? Im going to start with what Ill call the Baseline Disney World Vacation. Thats the vacation I would go ahead and tell a first-timer to book without knowing anything about how the finances look. Then Ill go ahead and talk about ways to increase and decrease your budget to fit your situation.

A Few Important Considerations

Before we dive into specifics about how much time youll need when visiting Walt Disney World or Disneyland Resort , there are a few important points to consider that will affect how much time you will need in each park.

The most important of these is the age of your party membersparticularly if you have kids. Kids contagious joy is a large part of what makes Disney parks magical, but kids introduce a number of crucial factors to Disney trips. For one thing, the age of your kids will play a big role in how much time youll be able to spend in the parks. Children under the age of four tend to have mixed reactions to Disney parkssome enjoy the sights and sounds while other experiences might be surprisingly frightening. Babies and toddlers are likely to require extra attention that may require you to plan extended breaks . Many kids under four tend to enjoy the resort pool more than anything else on a Disney vacation.

Kids from the ages of about 4-5 up to 11 will likely want to spend a lot of time enjoying Disneys kid friendly rides. Magic Kingdom tends to be a favorite park of younger kids at Walt Disney World . There are certainly things for kids in this age range to enjoy at all of Disneys parks, but depending on their favorite characters and activities, there may be parks youll want to spend extra time at if it matches their interests.

So how much time do you need at each Disney park? Lets start with the smaller of Disneys two US resorts

Parking Transportation And Souvenirs

Were on a budget, right? That means taking Disneys Magical Express complimentary bus shuttle to and from the airport . Youll need to allow a bit of extra time, but Disney will take care of delivering any checked baggage you have directly to your hotel room as long as you tag your bags appropriately. If you choose to bypass the Magical Express, parking fees at value resorts such as Pop Century and All-Star will run you $15 per night, and you should budget at least $150 for a rental car for five nights, and you may even have trouble finding one. Paying the parking fee at the resort means you wont have to pay to park your car at the theme parks. If youre trying to save money, rely on Disneys vast network of buses to get you to and from the parks.

That really only leaves souvenirs. I budgeted $25 per day, which would get something for each child in each park. How much you can spend on souvenirs varies greatly. To save even more money here, consider some of the many locations just outside Disney World property that sell cheap souvenirs . However, youll have to pay for a taxi to get to these if you didnt rent a car.

Total parking, transportation and souvenirs cost:$100

Day : Magic Kingdom Day

Magic Kingdom is the first park to open at Walt Disney World. It has Cinderellas castle, the classic dark ride attractions, as well as the Disney mountains .

It is what most people think of when they visit Walt Disney World. A day at Magic Kingdom should be part of your Disney Itinerary and some people like to plan two days to explore the park.

Magic Kingdom has the most attractions and rides than the other three parks but you can do it in one day. Plan on arriving about an hour before rope drop. Rope drop is when the park officially opens.

Currently they let people into the park before the posted opening time to walk through Main Street U.S.A. Once you walk through you will line up at the land entrance you are starting your day at. We suggest Fantasyland.

This means you should plan to arrive at Magic Kingdom around 8:00am-8:15am when park opens at 9:00am. Be sure to plan travel time between your resort and the parks. You may have to leave your room around 7:30.

I get that it is early and you are on vacation, but you get up early for work everyday. Today you get to go to Disney World!

Magic Kingdom has a few different ways to approach the park depending on what age your kids are or what your interests are. If you have older kids you may want to start with the thrill rides. If you have younger kids you may prioritize character meet and greets.

How Low Should You Go

The Ideal 5 Day Disney World Itinerary (Tips for Each Day)

Can you beat that hotel price? Definitely. As I said, you might easily find a lower price when Disney releases discounts or if you book through a site like Expedia. That could knock $100 more off your bill.

You can regularly find Airbnbs for less than $100 nightly, and there are a large number of off-site hotels that see rates drop to around $100 nightly after taxes and fees.

Its important to remember, though, that if youre staying off-site youll need transportation to the parks. Many off-site hotels have shuttles, but they tend to be woefully inadequate for a once-in-a-decade trip.

If youre driving to the parks, youll need to consider extra expenses of driving and parking at Disney World. Additionally, you could Uber for $20 to $40 roundtrip daily. Relatedly, youll need to budget for getting between your hotel and the airportabout $30 each way on Uber.

Add in those costs, and the $100 nightly for offsite hotels isnt much better than the $143 at All-Star Movies, which would include Disney bus transportation to the parks, along with the additional perks of staying at a Disney hotel.

Are some of these hotels going to be nicer than All-Star Movies? Maybe. But Im a huge fan of the new rooms at All-Star Movies, and in terms of functionality Id put them up against any budget hotel in the area.

How Much Does A Disney World Vacation Cost In 2022

This breaks down 2022 Walt Disney World vacation prices for park tickets, hotels, dining, transportation & more. It answers the question of how much visiting WDW costs to help you avoid sticker shock & plan within your budget. It also explains why prices have increased by thousands of dollars in the last two years.

This is a tough topic to tackle. Even with hypotheticals its impossible to pin down the actual cost for every set of circumstances. Beyond the basics covered in our breakdown, there are a lot of variables that are beyond the scope of this post: Lightning Lanes & Genie+ v. standby only? Rental car & paid parking v. Mears Connect airport shuttle? Travel insurance v. discounted non-refundable reservations?

Instead of tackling every possible scenario and ending up with a War & Peace length treatise, well look at price ranges for key aspects of visiting Walt Disney World, come up with totals based on those, and let you extrapolate for your own conclusions based upon that information. Given that the thing most readers report surprise over to us via comments and emails is cost, this is a topic worth addressing, even if we cant give any hard numbers for every possible scenario

You could also travel to New York and spend more than the cost of theme park tickets seeing shows and visiting points of interest, pay $250/night for adequate accommodations, $75/night for parking, and an exorbitant amount eating at some of Americas best restaurants.

Transportation At Walt Disney World

One important decision is . Even if youre sure you want a car, we recommend you read some of our tips about having a car at Walt Disney World.

Generally, youll be relying on bus, boat, monorail, or walking to get to and between the parks. You can also Uber around Walt Disney World. If youre unsure how to get between two points, ask the concierge or desk staff at your hotel, or ask a Cast Member at a park .

Transportation at Walt Disney World can, unfortunately, be quite slow. This is especially true of bus and boat transportation. If youre in a hurry, consider Uber.

Disney used to off its own rideshare systemMinnie Vansthrough a partnership with Lyft, but it hasnt operated in a while. If they return, the high prices of Minnie Vans make them not worth considering for most purposes other than getting to the Magic Kingdom, where other drivers are not allowed to make drop-offs. Theyre also good if you need two car seats, as Uber Car Seat cars typically only have one.

‘nothing Is Going To Happen’

Disney declined to comment on the legislature’s efforts, but the dispute is likely to end up in court, according to David Ramba, executive director of the Florida Association of Special Districts.

Ramba said he has dissolved a number of special districts, but never any that didn’t want to be dissolved and noted that “a lot of lawyers are going to get paid” as the parties work to sort out the operational implications of this bill.

Florida law dictates that special districts created by the legislature can only be dissolved with a majority vote of the district’s landowners. For Reedy Creek, that’s the Walt Disney Company.

“Nothing is going to happen,” said Jason Pizzo, a Democrat who represents the state’s 38th Senate district, during the special session Wednesday. “Everyone in this room knows this is not going to happen. I’m just tired of missing my kid’s baseball games for stuff we know is not going to happen.”

Pizzo was among several state senators who spoke out against the bill ahead of the Senate vote Wednesday. Many expressed frustration during discussion on the legislature floor, calling the legislation a “revenge bill” and “political theater.”

” wants to prove a point,” Stewart said. “He wants to prove he’s more powerful, but I don’t think he’s more powerful than Disney.”

How Much Are Walt Disney World Resort Tickets

There are three main types of Walt Disney World Resort tickets. Base Tickets are your most economical choice and allow you to visit one of the main four theme parks each day of your stay. Park Hopper Tickets allow you to visit multiple parks on the same day for an upgraded cost. Although Park Hopping was not available for most of 2020 travel, it returned with revised procedures on January 1, 2021. Now that Park Hoppers are available again at Walt Disney World Resort, you can expect to pay anywhere from $78-91 more per ticket to upgrade to a Park Hopper from a Base Ticket. The third ticket option is a Park Hopper Plus Ticket, which is the most expensive, but also offers the most variety. This Walt Disney World ticket allows you to visit all four theme parks, as well as bonus activities such as miniature golf and the Disney Water Parks during your visit. This ticket type when available is typically only a few extra dollars per day to upgrade to from a Walt Disney World Park Hopper Ticket.

When looking at prices of Walt Disney World tickets, youll of course pay more for a longer ticket. However, the price per day goes down significantly with longer length Disney World tickets. For example, a 1-day ticket for one park in 2021 starts at $109, but a 7-day base ticket for 2021 starts as low as $67 per day – a $42 per day discount! Or even better, a 10-day base ticket starts as low as $52 per day – thats less than half price!

How Many Days For Magic Kingdom

Short Answer: Two Days

The Magic Kingdom is by far the most popular theme park at Walt Disney World and has the most to see and do. In our opinion you need to plan two days to see everything at the Magic Kingdom. This is especially true if you would like to see all of the character meet and greets and streetmosphere.

You can still have a great time with one day at Magic Kingdom, just know that you may have to pay for Disney Genie + if youre wanting to ride everything while visiting during a peak time. Please note that the Walt Disney World 50th Anniversary Celebration is happening right now. That means for the next 18 months, there will be a lot more to see and do than during a non celebration year.

Genie+ And Lightning Lanes Costs To Consider:

  • You can purchase Genie+ for the length of your trip OR à la carte on the morning you wish you use it. We recommend doing it that way to avoid paying for days you may not need it.
  • In some parks , it may make more sense to just purchase Individual Lightning Lane passes vs. paying for Genie+
  • There are no refunds. Make sure you will use these services before you spend the money.
